I am the author and editor of this book but a lot of the "Us" is also the members of the WhiteBlaze web site.
I did the whole data collection, organization and layout of the book. There was collaboration with the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) and other book authors and editors to verify the data I collected and presented was correct.
It's not about me, its about the hiker
This is the whole reason this books exists.
It all started in 2003 and the web site WhiteBlaze. The reason the web site was created was to help hikers that wanted to learn about the Appalachian Trail and to prepare for hikes on it. The site is an open forum web site for asking questions or just reading past questions that other have asked, all to help those planning to hike on the Appalachian Trail.
My goal has always been about helping others to plan their hikes on the Appalachian Trail. I was once in the same position. I for years I had always dreamed about hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine. I was able to fulfil my dream because of WhiteBlaze. The information I learned from the members of WhiteBlaze made it possible for my dream to become a reality.
In creating this guidebook it is one more step forward in helping hikers wanting to hike parts of the Appalachian Trail or the whole thing.
